I love sharing
good news and no, that's not my baby! My brother Randy is at the embassy in
Beijing and that's their newest addition - Jacob. The name Jacob has a
variety of meaning depending on which expert you ask - I'm going with
"Fighter." Jacob is the one who wrestled with an angel in the Bible.
Jacob Lawrence was born a bit premature and had to be medevaced to
Singapore, 10 hours away, for a NIC-ICU as he couldn't breathe on his own. Caren had to stay behind and heal from her C-Section. So, mom shipped some
milk in a cooler down with Randy and Jacob. A few days later my brother was
back at the airport waiting on some more milk from Bejing and had no idea
how to identify the courier as they came off the plane.
Standing next to people holding signs saying "Mr Lee," "Mr Tan," he got an
idea and crafted his own sign...
"Got Milk?"
It worked! Randy, Jacob, and Caren were reunited a few days later. The
greatest news is that Jacob is now breathing on his own and out of the ICU.
Here's hoping your holidays are filled with good news!

FEATURE ARTICLE
"Video, SEO,
Social Media and Continuing the Conversation" by Perry Lawrence
I recently completed a class with 50 students where I showed them
one way to optimize video for SEO and list building. I must say it was
a class full of go-getters and action takers! These 50 students
surprised me in the creativity and boldness when it came to getting
their video shot and posted to social media sites. Kudos and THANKS to
them all!
I got busy and did another series myself using the same techniques I
have been teaching. Check it out at
http://www.VideoGiftIdeas.com.
The idea is to have a site
that is frictionless (only one option), has a compelling call to action,
and clear reciprocity. When people ask me on Twitter (@askmrvideo) about
video gifts or about the Flip camera or about tripods, I have been
sending them to this page. In addition, I sent the video to some video
sharing sites using
http://VideoGusher.com and some showed
up on the front page of Google within 24 hours.
Here's the idea:
1) Shoot a series of video starring you
2) Focus on delivering great information
3) Distribute to Social Media Sites
4) Drive traffic to your "Continuing the Conversation" page
The entire series of videos was shot using my Flip Mino HD which yielded
outstanding results! I posted the front page video using EZS3 and the
interior video using YouTube (which now displays in 16:9!!!)
Check it out and let me know what YOUR
video series will be about!
