Back from DC!

Back from D.C. where I attended Yanik Silver's Underground Online Seminar and had an absolute BLAST. What makes this event unique is that Yanik features people who are operating "under the radar" and CRUSHING it. People who you would probably never hear about if he didn't drag them out of their comfort zone and get them to expose their secrets.

I got to see Carrie Wilkerson - The Barefoot Executive speak and Carrie TORE THE HOUSE DOWN!!! HIJACKED the entire event with her amazing personality and incredible speech! Carrie had people stand, group by group, whom she has touched and interacted with in just a few short months.

People lept to their feet as she announced Masterminders, Mavericks, Facebook friends, Twitter Friends, etc. 75% of the room was standing by the end. It was simply the most amazing thing to witness and to be a part of.

Not only that - but Carrie won Marketer of the Year!

It was an amazing event and I got to network with the who's who of the IM world but honestly, the highlight was watching my friend Carrie shine.

If you are wondering what this Mini-Van Drivin', Four-Kid Totin', Soccer Mom can teach you about social marketing, go to MagneticListBuilding.com and learn how she hit 7 figures her first year.

Here are some behind the scenes videos of the event: http://www.UndergroundOnlineSeminar.com/live

FEATURE ARTICLE

A.C.T.S.

Here's a little formula that helps me get things done. I am not a GTD or 44folders or even to-do list kind of guy. Just an average entrepreneur that needs a formula now and then to git 'er DONE.
A.C.T.S. helps me get started and then finished! After all, that's what it all comes down to right?

A - ACTION
Just get started. It may sound simplistic but start something. DO something. Want to do some video? Shoot it today. Do not worry about your hair, your lighting, or your mic. Just do it. Want to edit that sales video? Sit down and start. Taking action is a huge reward in and of itself.

C - COMPLETION
Now stick with it until it's DONE. I like to Chunk For Success. Complete mini bite sized chunks of a project. By taking smaller bites I can have many successes. The successes build and I feel great about getting lots of stuff done. I just launched Video Marketing Association and as you can see, I got a lot done ;-) 1) A Logo (via 99designs.com) 2) an opt in form (via aweber.com). Two Things DONE! Wahooo! Hey, you gotta start somewhere! And, truth be told, my friend Lisa Wells over at Coast2CoastBusiness.com did the majority of this. The lesson here is do whatever it takes to get your small chunks done. Then do the next one. Don't worry about perfect - think about DONE.

T - THINK
For this step, No Box Required! Inside outside who cares, just put your noggin to work and think about your business and the next steps. Now here is the challenge that a lot of us deal with; We ZOOM ahead to "Z" while we are still at "A." That will only help get you overwhelmed. If I think about all the moving parts (tasks) of a project all at once, I get gimble lock. I freeze. I try to think 2 steps ahead and that's about all I can manage - by being two steps ahead on any project gives me a huge advantage. While you are working on task A - don't think about task Z! Thinking more than two tasks ahead I lose focus, my clients can't follow along and my stress level rises. Think about improvements along the way and track your progress.

S - STRATEGIZE
One HUGE lesson I have learned is that while I am doing the tasks associated with a project, I can't strategize about the project. As a business owner and entrepreneur you MUST take time to get a 50,000-foot view now and again. You need to see how each project fits into your overall mix, how you can leverage partnerships, and how you can continue to build your company. So, take some time to just dream. Take time with a good mind mapping program (I use MindMeister.com) and chart out the destination of your business.

Some of you may be thinking "But Perry, isn't this all backwards? Shouldn't I strategize FIRST???" That's correct for a CEO of a massive corporation who can be the visionary and delegate EVERYTHING. But for solopreneurs, you can strategize yourself right into bankruptcy. Some of us (me included) LOVE to strategize - but that doesn't put food on the table. Massive Action to Completion will put you ahead of 80% of the crowd.
