AskMrVideo Newsletter | March 3, 2009 | Volume 3, Issue 6

What are you doing? It's March and in 29 days the first quarter of 2009 will be gone! A full 25% of the year will be over. Time used to crawl when I was younger. Now it flies by. One thing I recently found is that completing some goals actually makes time slow down a bit. You'd think the opposite would be true but the more you accomplish it seems the more you appreciate the time you have had. Especially when you take the time to reflect on it.

I just wrote out all I have done so far in 2009 and it is really inspiring as well as challenging! I'm happy to see I've accomplished some good things and challenged to do more. Write out your Q1 accomplishments and see what else you can do in the next 29 days!

3 Biggest Video Mistakes

Since I've been doing video for 20+ years I have made every mistake possible! But even today the biggest mistake I see others making is not doing video because they think it is too hard or they do not look good or etc. With today's tools it is easier than ever! "Video is too difficult" is not an excuse anymore.

Just Shoot It!

Go on - I'll wait...
See the biggest mistake is NOT DOING VIDEO!

What? You already ARE doing video? OK then...

Here are the Big Three Video Mistakes and How to Avoid Them:

1) Too Long - Cut to the chase already. Unless you are teaching a class, keep your videos short and to the point. Unless you are delivering a class, keep your videos punchy, succinct and entertaining.

2) Poor Audio - You need to be as conscience of the audio as the video. I always say that audio is 60% of the video. Use a lavaliere mic for best results. ALWAYS monitor the audio using headphones.

3) Lighting - Use a softbox or other diffused light source for the best quality image. Also, do not use a window as a background! With lighting, a single soft light can go a long way and is what I use 90% of the time.

So if you want to get to the next level in your video productions, avoid these three mistakes and Just Shoot It!

VIDEO GEAR REVIEW

Video Op't-In Machine

I love Twitter. I love YouTube. I love Facebook. I love social media! I like the fact that you can start a conversation with these social sites but with 140 characters it's challenging to continue any meaningful dialog. I started experimenting with some targeted video sites to collect contact information. I loved the idea of video delivery and viewer interaction so much that I developed the Video Op
't-In Machine.

Imagine a video player that plays video from Amazon S3,
YouTube, and ANY flv from across the internet.

Now imagine that same player interacting with your customers and compelling them to take the next step.

The Video Opt-In Machine was developed with my newsletter subscribers in mind. You need customers. You need an easy to use and affordable video player. You want the latest in interactive web 3.0 technology to wow your audience. AND you want to continue the conversation with your visitors.

Put the Video Opt-In Machine on your site AND give it to your affiliates and have a virtual 24/7/365 SALES FORCE collecting leads from around the world. Give this to your affiliate army and each video sends leads directly back to you!

  • Plays YouTube Videos
  • Customizable Message on Opt-In Form
