About Mr Video

Yep, I did it. I swam with the dolphins! I was on a cruise to Mexico and we stopped in Progresso, toured some Mayan Ruins, and then sailed on to Cozumel for some dolphin swimming. While we were in Cozumel we also visited City of Angels Orphanage - supported by our good friend Paul Evans' charity 100x Missions. I got Paul to film a "Why" video while we were there. Take a look at Paul's "Why" video here: http://www.askmrvideo.com/public/461.cfm

Do YOU have a WHY for why you do what you do? Record it!

When I was in Progresso, Ms Video did camera holding duties and
I shot some biz tips as they related to the surrounding area and the lessons I learned. To see one of the videos (in HD!) check it out here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yOlPMNdM4uA&fmt=22

The MOST important lesson I learned while traveling? Record EVERYTHING! There are SO many opportunities to integrate video into YOUR marketing mix. I have started a video diary on marketing tips that Carrie Wilkerson and I are adding to daily. You'll find some of our adventures from Mexico, LA, Ireland (coming next week) and we have a few friends help us along the way. Check it out at VideoMagnetism.com.

Stay Tuned...

VIDEO OF THE WEEK

Mr Video Says: "This simple video is another example of how companies are embracing video sharing platforms and vice versa. Well done!"

FEATURE ARTICLE

Paul Greblick posted a great question in the forum:

I noticed that you and Carrie had an event recently like a workshop or seminar and I'm wondering if you can give any guidance as to resources that describe how to do your own events successfully.

The workshop last week was interesting. We lost our room, lost our projector and yet it was the most fun I have had teaching in a while. Here's why...

1) The event was by invitation only and tagged on to another event that I was at (Adam Urbanski's event).
2) The workshop was free. This was to build content and gain some solid testimonials.
3) The workshop was practical - we taught how to script, shoot and share your video in a few minutes
4) The goal was to get each participant to shoot 3-5 episodes of their show.
5) The workshop was informal (at best ;-)
6) Was a lead generator for an upcoming class

We had a cameraman shoot pickup shots. If we could have, we would have had him film the entire thing but this was very informal. Editing this yourself is very easy I think.

The end results was that we filled the upcoming class with a bunch of excited people and got some GREAT testimonials. Plus the twitter buzz alone was worth the exercise!

After I posted this Carrie joined the conversation and gave a great resource:

As far as planning events, I'm no expert - but our great friend Bernadette Doyle is! She has a great product called Profitable Events & Workshops and it's a low cost but PRICELESS resource the I recommend without reservation.

We are traveling to one of her events in just about a week to teach and she will have a packed room, sold at $2k or more each ticket!

Have FUN!

Thanks Paul for the question and thanks Carrie for the great resource!

VIDEO GEAR REVIEW

I am a big huge fan of video but until recently not a huge fan of streaming sites. I tried out Justin.tv and ustream but they seemed a bit limited and underwhelming. I started playing around with Mogulus and even created a channel at http://www.mogulus.com/askmrvideo

Well the interface was amazing and the ability to load videos from YouTube made it a no brainer.

Now, the folks at Mogulus have introduced ProCaster.com. Procaster is a stand-alone app that lets you stream from your desktop both video AND you desktop simultaneously. Seriously, this is again, a no brainer and both are free.

I really love the ability to record, stream, and embed the whole channel into my web site! RUN - go check this out because it is WORTH IT!
