Make way for mobile video!
I am amazed by the explosion of mobile video and then again, not so
much. Immediate, Intimate, and Irresistible video is what I've been
talking about for the past few months and the Flip had that covered
quite nicely. Then steps in the new iPhone and KaPOW! Things really
begin to take off. YouTube stated that mobile uploads have increased
over 1500% in the last 6 months and since the iPhone hit the streets,
daily uploads have increased 400%.
What are people uploading? Well, everything and anything. Why? Because
they can natch! In this issue of the newsletter I'll feature a few tools
that make mobile video fun and interesting.
Stay Tuned...

FEATURE ARTICLE
Make Life Easier
My dad was a task master. I was a lazy bum. Not a good combo. It wasn't
that I was lazy so much as it was that I ALWAYS looked for the easy way
out. My dad once asked me "Why do you always want to do things the easy
way?" Umm, dad, is this a trick question...?
Fast forward a gazillion years and here we are - Video creation push
button ease. I couldn't be happier. Now on to my next trick ;-)
Seriously, I do love it when things are easy, fast and fun. I also like
it when a solution presents itself that streamlines my workflow. My
current workflow includes answering posts in the AMV forums, jumping
around to other parts of the AMV site, checking in on the Social Media
Fantastic Four - Facebook, Twitter, YouTube, and LinkedIn - checking
email and checking the weather. Not necessarily in that order ;-)
Sometimes you don't know things can be easier. Sometimes a solution
jumps out at you and you go "Ahhhh That's IT!" I hope what I'm about to
show you has the same effect on you as it did me. Introducing the
AskMrVideo Tool bar!

http://askmrvideo.ourtoolbar.com/
You can navigate to the hot spots on AskMrVideo, get your social media
updates, check your email, the weather and a BUNCH of other stuff, all
in a simple to use toolbar. Plus, contact Karen (at) askmrvideo (dot)
com directly if some of the main components are distracting or you want
more of something. You can add your own tools to the bar and I have set
some standard ones as well.

VIDEO GEAR REVIEW
Kyte
is a video delivery platform that offers some amazing flexibility. From
their website:
Kyte is an online and mobile video
platform for live and on-demand content. Designed for media &
entertainment companies, Kyte combines the real-time, interactive
and community building capabilities of the social web, with the
analytics, control, and monetization features of professional video
platforms.
I tapped into Kyte only recently after I
saw they had an iPhone application called Kyte Producer. What Kyte
Producer allows me to do it create and post a new video to my "channel"
whenever I like - straight from my iPhone. What makes Kyte different
from say YouTube? Well for one, the Kyte Player is brandable and plays
the latest episode right in your own web page. Additionally, the quality
seems to be substantially better than the default quality on YouTube.
Not only can you Record and Upload using Kyte, but you can also stream,
although this is not yet available for the iPhone. In addition to
uploading and streaming, you can email videos directly to friends and
family - something I am doing from my iPhone now!
Finally, Kyte integrates effortlessly with Twitter. Any time I update my
"Show" it automatically posts the link on Twitter. Cool!
