Hey Producers!
Yes that's you! If you are CREATING you have EARNED the right to be
called a Producer - Welcome to the fold!
But for some, that's a big IF. Some are still wondering what to create.
Some are resting on the laurels of past creations. Some have so many
ideas that they can't figure out which one to do first. And still others
are working on the perfect creation.
Here are some tips for those of you who are stagnant in your creative
juices (nice picture right?) that will help you to get off center, start
creating, and proudly wear the Producer's badge of honor:
1. Write for 5 minutes - stream of consciousness. This one
exercise removed my writer's block forever. Sit in a quiet room and just
write with a pen and paper for 5 minutes. No editing, no correcting, no
theme, just write and write and write.
Frankly I was amazed at how prolific I could be in 5 minutes. Then, 20
minutes later I was amazed that I was ENJOYING the exercise. The idea of
free flow writing - without concern for "correctness" - is super
freeing.
2. Record for 5 minutes. Fire up your laptop and record your
voice for 2 minutes. Just talk... about anything. It shouldn't make
sense, but if it does, cool! Just talk. Free up your mind to let
creativity happen. And trust me, it will happen when you are not
concerned about perfection, technology, and judgment. Do this RIGHT NOW.
3. Video for 5 minutes. Get your Flip, fire it up, and film
something. ANYTHING! Film yourself, your house, your cat or your kids.
Narrate the action and talk about what's unfolding in front of the lens.
This is a GREAT exercise for helping you think on your feet, connect
with what's happening, and a first step into great storytelling.
Pick one of the above and do it today. Then you are creating and then
you are a Producer. Glad to have ya!

7 Tips to Start Video Blogging
We are going to cover 7 tips to start video blogging or Vlogging. There
are many tips and tricks that will help you get exactly what you need
out of video and your blog. You will want to be very aware of your
lighting both natural and artificial. Remember that lighting is your
friend. It makes you be seen. It is important.
Also we will talk about sound. How do you get excellent sound quality
when you are outside or around other sources of noise? That is one of
the best questions that we will address. When you are outside you will
definitely want to pay attention. You want your Vlog to be amazing and
adding video to your blog is not as hard as you think. Video blogging is
the key to opening your business even further.
1. Lighting: You can always use natural light - which is
wonderful - or you can use artificial light (the more of it he better).
In most cases you will opt for recording outdoors or near a window or
other source of natural light.
2. Sound: Having two sources of recording, one for hearing and
one for imaging is a great trick. You can always paste in the vocals
later as the distant vocals from the image perspective you want to use
may not be viable. Wind and distance do pose a problem on the quest to
recording descent vocals.
3. Location of equipment: If you are in a windy environment, make
sure your recording device is somewhere out of the wind or some sort of
sheltered area so that you and your voice can be captured clearly.
4. External Microphones: This is highly recommended gear. A web
cam recorder is basic and not advanced in recording sound. Using an
external recorder is highly recommended because the sound quality is
much better at recording than a simple camera recorder combo device.
5. Shotgun recorders: Shot gun recording devices are long pointed
microphones that can be attached to certain cameras and aim the
recording to a target (like your mouth) and somewhat eliminate
background noises.
6. Get an external mic: You can use an external mic. Those work
very well. Those are great for when you are on the road. This is the
very best way to get audio - especially when you are interviewing
someone on the road and are a bit away from the camera.
7. Sound is the most important part: Even if your video is not
the greatest - if your sound is excellent it can almost carry the weight
of the entire presentation - it is that important!
There are many tips and tricks to consider. These were just a few.

VIDEO GEAR REVIEW
I mastermind with
some really sharp people. It's a lot of fun and it's a great environment
for incubating some really cool ideas.
I got a sneak peak at James Wedmore's Online Video 4 Profit
course and it blew me away. What is impressive about James is his eye
for design, his dedication to his business, and his youthful spirit (he
sang the theme from Little Mermaid on one of our outings).
Anyway, James gave me a sneak peak at his course he did with a guy who
has over 35 million video views! He gets over 60,000 video views A DAY!
Here is a link:
OnlineVideo4Profit
Here is the deal on this course: It ROCKS! There is one tip in here that
has made me look at video from a completely NEW angle. Having been in
the industry, THAT is something! The course is broken down into
bite-size pieces and details step-by-step how one marketer in a really
geeky niche (hobby related) is absolutely CRUSHING it as far as
viewership, retention, viral distribution, comments etc. etc! I was
looking at this and thinking - yeah, what trick is he using to get all
of these CRAZY stats?
I WAS BLOWN AWAY
When I watched how deliberately these guys crafted their videos yet made
it SUPER easy to understand what, why, and how they were approaching
things, I was really impressed. I'm implementing all this into my stuff
asap and really dig EVERYTHING these two are talking about.
And it's not about technical things - It's all about how you interact
with your audience. How to communicate effectively, how to build
loyalty, how to get your message out there and talked about. Hey, what
could YOU do with 60,000+ views a day in YOUR niche?
The course is broken up into video segments. Each segment James
interviews Dave Powers - the man behind the 35 million views. James and
Dave go over exactly how Dave approaches each video, how he uses some
interesting tools (that I didn't know about) to tweak the videos, and
how he dials in each video for max results. This is very very cool stuff
and I am super excited to be able to review it. James is a friend yes,
he is also a very smart guy and this stuff is VIDEO GOLD (hmmmm should I
trademark that...?).
Anyway, check out the sales page and see if it's what you are looking
for.
