Guide to Start-Up Video Gear

Printer-Friendly Format

Here are my recommendations for a beginning info marketer's video package. I have added some high-end and low-end choices for the budget conscience.

If you know what to look for and keep you eyes open for deals and ebay bargans, you can get set up for relatively little money. There are options but if you go your own route, do your homework and double check the specs.

Manufacturers have left out the mic and headphone jacks on their consumer models. This is unfortunate because it reduces an otherwise great digital camera to a relatively useless piece of gear.

Camera:
MiniDV that has Mic and Headphone jacks and records to tape and offers manual focus and white balance.

Prosumer
Canon GL-2 (3 ccd)
Sony DCR-VX2100 (3 ccd)
Sony PD-170 (3 ccd)
Sony HDR-FX1
