Affordable Lavaliere Mic Solution
The $24 RadioShack Clipon Electret Lavaliere Microphone is a nice tool to have in your camera bag. If you are looking for an inexpensive mic, this one will fit the bill nicely.I walked into my local RadioShack and asked for a lavaliere mic - thinking I'd try whatever they had. This one was a pleasant surprise and picks up very well. It is not a $300 mic, but is sure beats your on-camera mic! Have a look and listen:

What you get:
You get a wired lavaliere microphone with a 6' cord.
You get a plastic clip to use for attaching onto clothing.
You get a battery - Electret microphones are powered and this small battery is placed into a holder on the cord which also has an on/off switch. I highly recommend getting an extension cord as the 6' length is not going to be enough. A 6' extension should be good.
