Video Tip: Watermarks, Blog Video, Tubes, and YouTube Killer?
One thing I was worried about when I started AskMrVideo was would I be able to have a great Video Tip of The Week. I mean, how many great video "finds" would there in a given week? Well, I no longer have to worry. I find, or members find, TONS of stuff every day! I have to pair it down to the best or what I think you guys will like. Here is this week's crop of excellent video goodies. Watermarks: I have a few tutorials on the site for watermarking your video using Vegas or with the Flash Player. But what if you have a bunch of videos, want to watermark them all, and need it in a hurry - and easily. Enter Video Watermark Factory. This affordable tool allows you to add a watermark, edit and even output in multiple formats. Check out my mini review here: http://www.askmrvideo.com/public/161.cfm Blog Video: Member Jean asked about inserting video into a blog. Member John showed us how he was streaming his blog video from Amazon's S3. I caught the bug and added some S3 video to my Wordpress blog using Alex Rabe's fantastic plug in. This plug in is a version of Jeroen Wejering's player and uses swfobject for cross browser compatibility. Check out the plug in here: http://alexrabe.boelinger.com/?page_id=20 S3 video on my blog here: Tubes: OK, this one's a sleeper and it comes from member SkydiveDad. Take a look at http://www.tubesnow.com. Get it? I didn't either at first. Here's what's so great about Tubes for us video folk. If you and your significant 'business' other (client, producer, graphic designer, colorist, audio mixer, friend, colleague, boss, etc) have Tubes installed on your desktop, you can drag any file on to it and Whooosh - file shows up on their desktop (complete with Whooosh sound effect). Get it now? Say you just finished a video and you want to send it to Randy to add some graphics. Or, you may want to send it to Ken to do a quick audio mix. Simply drop the file on your Tube and it goes to who ever you want. It's kind of like a transporter for files - beam 'em up Mr. Scott! Tubes is already revolutionizing the way I do business. Instead of emailing project files I can now Tube the files. Check it out at: YouTube Killer? I get a bunch of stuff from Internet Marketers. I love marketing and I'm always interested in their latest method of getting my attention. A recent email had "YouTube Killer" as a subject line. The link in the email had an interesting url so I checked it out. It's not a YouTube killer but it may just be a great way to monetize your videos. It's a site where you can post free or paid content. I'm just now checking it out and it's easy to use. It does take a while for them to convert your video once you upload it. Take a look here: Look familiar? It's a cross between Google and YouTube. Do a search and you get free and paid videos, audio and ebook content! I uploaded 2 videos but it's taken over 24 hours for the videos to get converted - I think they are a bit busy! Here's my "Author" page - hopefully the videos will show up soon. YouTube killer? Hardly, but it has some potential for those of you wanting to sell video content - pain free. One last thing... We launched a video contest. It's called "My Day in 60 Seconds." It's a video challenge. Put together a 60 second video of your day. The only rule is make it 60 seconds exactly. When you have one done, post it on YouTube and give it a tag like AMV60 or AskMrVideo60 so we can all find it. It doesn't have to be fancy - some of us are using our RCA Small Wonder cams to shoot our day. It just has to be 60 seconds. Add music, add graphics, add your grandmother - just keep it to 60 seconds exactly (that's 59:29 for you editors out there). The contest will run until May 15th, 2007. I'll have a voting booth set up on the site for you to select your favorite. Oh, almost forgot... The prize is a free year's subscription to AskMrVideo.com - a $119.40 value, plus I'll throw in a copy of CompositeLab Pro - a $150 value. That's prizes valued at over $269! So the more the merrier. Forward this on to your friends - let's have a big turnout for this. Should be a hoot! Again, if you have friends that would benefit from these tips, forward this message to them. The Video Tip Archive is still available to all for the rest of the month here: http://www.askmrvideo.com/public/department27.cfm I encourage you to print them out for your future use. Membership pricing is going up at the end of this month too. That's it till next week. Drop me a line if you have any video or marketing questions. You can email me directly at perry(-at-)askmrvideo(-dot-)com. All the best, Perry |
