Tip: Final Call for Votes, Mic Shootout

Printer-Friendly Format

Hey, I got some great stuff for you today!

Many people have asked me about a good wireless mic. I have also been hearing some great things about the RODE VideoMic. So, what better way to see what's what than with a Video Shoot Out. Check out the side by side and see which mic comes out ahead here: http://www.askmrvideo.com/public/222.cfm

Don not forget to vote on your favorite for the AskMrVideo.com "My Day in 60 Seconds" contest. Voting closes on July 20th so head on over to cast your vote here: http://www.askmrvideo.com/public/216.cfm

From the above page you can click on the Tell a Friend link in the top menu bar and send a link to that page to your friends and get them to vote. (Friend's names are not collected).

This follow up tip came in from Jim Parsons. Jim is an avid photographer and runs a website called Natural Health & Healing at http://www.learntolive.info/

I love getting tips like this and Jim's was very helpful. I asked if I could post it so here it is.

Hey Mr Video,

I live in Canada and we enjoy extra special conditions relative to condensation.

I have exposed countless rolls of film while exploring snow-filled forests and byways on snowshoes, skiis, and the magic of the snowmobile.

Here is a little never-fail trick I have used used for years.

Temperature change is the problem when working with condensation, so, protect your camera by being ready in advance.

Going out from hot to cold - place the camera in a plastic bag and seal it up. Wait a few minutes and the condensation will form - but on the outside of the bag and not inside the camera.

Going from cold to hot, same thing. Bag the camera.

A nice clean, clear plastic bag is always resident in my camera bag - one for each camera I intend to use.

When I am exploring and traveling light, I often just place the whole outfit including the camera bag into the plastic bag. That way you protect extra lenses, filters, lens cleaners, etc, whatever you are carrying.

Enjoy

Jim Parsons ---

Thanks for that Jim! Well, that's about it for this week. I hope you all are having a fantastic summer.
