Dear Videographer,

I'm Back! Wow, I had a blast in Baja! I was running with the big dogs - the big dogs of industry, marketing and commerce. I learned a ton, worked like a dog and had more fun than I thought possible.

My gig - videographer for Maverick Business Adventures - was a real blessing. It allows me to do what I love, adventure video, and gives me some amazing insight to share with you all on what works in this fast paced industry and what does not.

I've been posting a few edits as I do them on the MBA site so check them out here:

MaverickBusinessAdventures.com These were shot using a HDR-FX1 HD camera. I used a Sennheiser wireless mic for the audio. Members, check out Art & Business of the Video Testimonial here.

Announcement: Click on the link above to get the special President's day rate. It's my birthday too so I want to celebrate. I can only offer this to the first 50 people so act now. Click here. Already a member? Look next week for YOUR special offer. While you're waiting for THAT, click here to send this free offer to your friends.

Found Video of the Week
Every week I bring you a new video that illustrates great video, great marketing or both. Enjoy!

Wine Library TV

Mr Video says "Gary Vaynerchuck videos himself while wine tasting. At 409 episodes, Gary has proven to be genuine, honest and consistent! What is your passion? Can you grab a Flip Video camera and shoot some quick videos for your niche?"

"Creating A Show"
by Perry Lawrence

My friend Dan Buglio over at My-Air-Purifier.com gave me the heads up on The Wine Library TV and all the success Gary has achieved with his "show". Now I put "show" in quotes because it's not what MOST of us would have considered a TV style show only 2 years ago. Today however, this is THE way to get the word out about your product, business, lifestyle and/or niche.

Gary has said that he didn't get much traffic the first year. Things started to take off, he got some hits, and soon everyone from Conan to Ellen D. were having him come by for a chat and a taste.

Here are the lessons I believe we can learn from Gary.

  1. Be yourself - you gotta love the NY Jets Spit Bucket!
  2. Be Passionate - if you don't love what you do, find something that you DO love.
  3. Be consistent - over 400 episodes! Gary shoots these DAILY!
  4. Have Fun - what's the point otherwise?

Oh, forgot to mention - Gary's business winelibrary.com is now a $50 million company thanks in no small part to the videos!

Want to create videos? Here is an article I did about doing a consistent show using a Flip Video Camera. The Flip is easy so it eliminates excuses and helps you be consistent!

Video Gear Review
Here we go! My favorite part of every "Tip of the Week". This is where we get to look at some neat toys tools!

Flip Video Camera

When the Flip Camera first came out I kind of "poo pooed" it. "Not, a 'pro' camera, no mic or headphone jack, not great quality."

Well, I'm going on record as saying "I Love It!"

While not something I will be shooting for TV, most of us have video projects still on the drawing board because of the hassle in setup and editing.

Now, with the Flip, there are No Excuses. Get one, shoot a video, post (automatically) to YouTube, and DONE. It doesn't get any easier.

What? Not Professional enough you say? Low quality you say? You're right. But while the rest of us get busy catching up to Gary on WineLibraryTV.com, you can work on your "movie". ;-)

This little camera is perfect for starting out. It costs around $100 and it get's you into the game. So, if you want to post video on your site, want to post video on YouTube, have a show idea or have a need for fame, just pick up a Flip and start shooting.

Perry, just wanted to say a BIG THANKS for taking the time to look at my HTML code and figuring out why my video wasn't playing on my Home Page at www.6WeeksToSoccerMagic.com.

Folks, after spending almost two hours banging my head against my home-office wall, I threw my hands in the air and asked Perry to look at this page. Literally in less than a nanosecond, Perry replied with his God-saving answer: I had left out a ">" in my HTML code around my embedded video on the page.

Let's face it, Perry... you not only have a great sense for detail (must have come from all those years as a professional videographer and editor), but you are always willing to give to others even when there are only still 24 hours in a day. Do you ever sleep?

Thanks again!
