Dear Videographer,

It's interesting. I ran a little experiment and it changed my life.. well, for a few days anyway. Live broadcasting of your life (or Lifecasting) is becoming popular with 20 somethings and retirees alike.

I jumped into the fray not knowing how I would react or how people on the other side of the "tube" would react.

I can report that while not ready for Prime time, it can be an effective business tool. Join me in my little experiment - not sure how long I'll be live!

Found Video of the Week
Every week I bring you a new video that illustrates great video, great marketing or both. Enjoy!

"Lifecasting for Businesses"
by Perry Lawrence

What do you get when you combine a webcam, a laptop, a broadband connection, and someone willing to be on "display" 24/7. You get Justin.TV!

Like most people who follow internet video, I saw all the press about Justin and his "lifecasting" about 6 months ago. Justin was basically broadcasting his life 24/7 using streaming video.

What I recently discovered however was that now, using the same technology, anyone can be "live" for free!

Justin.TV is an interesting site. There are all kinds of people streaming their life 24/7 for all to see. Not sure how interesting watching someone sleep is, but one "broadcaster" opted to sleep in a box to spice of the "show"!

I did a little experiment. I went LIVE as Ask Mr Video and as a business tool - I can happily report that I got one new member and retained an old one.

I was able to answer someone's video question and they ended up subscribing and one member's subscription had lapsed and wanted to know hot to re-up.

I don't think I'll keep this experiment going on forever but if you want to take a look at the inner workings of the AskMrVideo.com empire, click on the link above.

It's a one way video and audio feed but the chat is two way.

Video Gear Review
Here we go! My favorite part of every "Tip of the Week". This is where we get to look at some neat toys tools!

True BoxShot

I was so impressed with the ease and quality of the box shot of my up coming DVD that I wanted to share this easy to use tool. True BoxShot is an affordable software download that not only allows you to create stunning DVD case shots but also CD covers, Box Shots, Membership Cards, and Books.

With True BoxShot you have complete control over width, height, and depth as well as background (color or transparent), reflection, and shadow. You can position your product anywhere in 3D space.

I love tools that make life easier. I have used a few other product box creation tools and none are as easy as this!

So if you are looking to make a membership card, ebook cover or even a nice screen shot, look into True BoxShot.

Hi,
I'm shooting a video with a green screen + 14 flourocent lights + using a wireless Azden system.
I noticed that there is a small "sSssS" sound on the background- Any idea how to reduce it or filter it out? with Adobe or any other software?

Thanks,
Tom

I have used SoundSoap by Bias http://www.bias-inc.com/products/soundSoap2/

Some DAWs (Digital Audio Workstations) like Soundtrack have noise removal built in or available as a plug in. What are you editing in?

Hi Perry,
The results on the demo of SoundSoap Pro are amazing !!
The product is not cheap $599 - as a stand alone product.
I found you can get it in Pinnacle Studio Ultimate 11 - for $129 (including the soundsoap pro).
Thanks,
Tomer
